How this calculator works
Uses the browser’s standard Chinese calendar conversion for Gregorian birth dates from 1901–2099. The animal year changes at Lunar New Year, not 1 January or Li Chun. Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch determine the 60-year element–animal cycle.

This calculator follows Lunar New Year. A January or February birth before Chinese New Year belongs to the preceding lunar animal year. It shows the start and end dates of the animal year used.
Why does a BaZi calculator show a different animal year?
Some BaZi systems use Li Chun, the Start of Spring solar term, as the year boundary. This tool uses Lunar New Year instead. Compare conventions when a birthday is near those dates.
What are my Chinese Zodiac element and animal?
The animal follows a 12-year cycle. The year element and Yin–Yang follow the ten Heavenly Stems. The paired stem and branch produce a 60-year cycle. Enter a date from 1901 to 2099 to see the full result.
