How this calculator works

Gregorian calendar dates are compared as whole days without daylight-saving clock shifts. Inclusive counting adds one endpoint day. Month/year shifts clamp to the last valid day when necessary. Supported years: 1600–2400.

Does the date difference include both dates?

By default it counts elapsed days: 1 January to 2 January is one day. Select “Include both start and end dates” to count both dates as two days. Weekends are included; it is not a business-day calculator.

What happens when adding a month to 31 January?

The result uses the last valid day in February: 28 February normally or 29 February in a leap year. Month and year shifts are calendar operations rather than fixed multiples of 30 or 365 days.
